What comes to mind when you think of salt? Do you think of a business name? Do you instantly picture the calm vast ocean full of salt water, or maybe a batch of freshly fried tortilla chips sprinkled with salt, ready to be devoured? “Sacred Salt” was something God put on my heart when I tried to think of the perfect business name. I wanted to name this company something biblical, but with deeper meaning.
Did you know there are more than 40 references to salt in the Bible? When you dig into the various symbolic meanings of salt found in God’s Word, it’s pretty miraculous. Salt symbolically represents purity, its ability to preserve, its antiseptic qualities, the flavor it provides, the establishment of relationships, and so much more. After much thought and prayer, we felt strongly to name our company after this small, but mighty word. We are a company devoted to encouraging you to nourish your mind, body, and spirit. When I was trying to think of a name for this company, let’s just say my creative juices were not flowing. For the life of me, I couldn’t come up with anything. I knew I wanted the name to be biblical and give glory to God, but I kept coming back to this little fascination I have with salt.
At one point in time I read Matthew 5:13 and thought to myself, “What in the world does that even mean?” I still don’t think I really grasp all of the biblical meanings of salt. From that day forward though, my interest was piqued. My research on salt in the Bible led me down a rabbit holes of knowledge that opened my eyes. To this day, I’m still soaking in details about biblical references to salt.
